| Rincon
Valley Coalition (RVC)
is a community-based, non-profit, non-tax-exempt Arizona corporation
serving the residents, businesses, land owners, and visitors of Rincon
Valley.
Our mission is to protect and
preserve the
unique qualities of Rincon Valley while proactively facilitating
informed, environmentally and culturally responsive land use planning
and development throughout the community.
To achieve these goals, Rincon Valley
Coalition:
- has structured its Board of
Directors such
that all directors are required to be residents and/or property owners
within RVC
boundaries. All directors are unpaid volunteers serving three-year
terms, staggered to ensure continuity;
- has structured its Executive
Committee such
that all officers are required to be residents and/or property owners
within RVC boundaries.
All officers are unpaid volunteers serving one-year terms. With the
exception of Treasurer, Officers
need not be directors;
- has established a membership policy,
providing
for community representation insofar as the community itself chooses to
participate;
- has established (and will continue
to
establish additional) cooperative relationships with other
organizations and groups to promote scientific research, analysis, and
publication regarding issues of specific importance to Rincon Valley,
such as wildlife habitat and migration route preservation, aquifer
(ground water) depletion, storm water runoff and soil erosion,
transportation planning, et cetera;
- endeavors to educate:
- the public about the
impact that
development can, does, and will have on Rincon Valley, and how those
issues might be most effectively and cooperatively managed;
- the lay community about
conceptual and
codified land use planning, and development and construction processes;
- government, regional land use
planners,
and potential developers and builders about the community’s values,
concerns, and expectations;
- actively engages with elected and
appointed
governmental officials and staff regarding issues of general or
specific concern to the local community. Furthermore, RVC
encourages individuals and other organizational entities to actively
participate in the management of Rincon Valley via the democratic
process. Land use planning and development is administered by
Pima County and, as such, is ultimately representative of the highest
(or lowest) standards that the community codifies and enforces;
- monitors and publishes proposed
land use,
zoning, and development activity within RVC boundaries. It is RVC’s
contention that an educated and informed community is most likely
to be proactive participants in community management;
- promotes (and, if necessary, will
provide a
conduit for) open communication among all concerned and interested
parties.
